Conswella Cloyd
Founder
Conswella Cloyd is a Houston Native whom is currently employed by the City of Houston as an Senior Gang Intervention Counselor. Conswella currently provides Social Work Based Case Management Services, Intervention and Mentoring to At Risk youth, provides support and education to school districts, facilitates parenting and life skills groups, and provides awareness to youth, their families, Youth Service Professionals, and Community Stakeholders. Conswella obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Texas Southern University and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and is currently an LPC candidate. Conswella’s experience throughout the past 11 years has been through both public and nonprofit sectors serving adolescents and families residing in low socio-economic communities. Conswella’s passion is planting seeds of compassion, love, faith, education, and honesty in the lives of youth, adults, and individuals through a strength-based approach so they can produce healthy, strong, peaceful relationships with their selves first, conquer their goals, and assist to represent the paradigm shift in disenfranchised communities!
Ashley Whitley
Founder
Ashley Whitley, originally from Louisiana, is a Community Trainer with The Harris Center for Mental Health and I.D.D. and an up and coming minister in the A.M.E. denomination. Currently, she provides mental health awareness and suicide prevention/intervention skills within the community. Ashley is a certified Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor, and also an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training Instructor (A.S.I.S.T.) Ashley’s experience includes providing education and awareness utilizing MHFA, YMHFA, SafeTalk, A.S.K. and ASIST curriculum to diverse populations including crisis workers, individuals who provide support for youth with disabilities, school districts, the public safety population, and faith based organizations. She also facilitates groups, parenting classes, self-esteem groups, and life transition groups.
She graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She has a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. She is currently a LMFT- A. Ashley is a combat veteran who served 10 years in the United States Army. Ashley exudes commitment and passion to help demystify misinformation and stigma which surrounds the mental health community, African American community, and faith based community. She finds extreme happiness in being able to do her part by providing effective, proficient, and enjoyable trainings to help people in the many roles in their life find effective ways to address practical issues and problems.
Who We Are
Abundant Life Teaching, Inc is a nonprofit organization started in 2019 by Conswella Cloyd and Ashley Whitley. They have combined experience of 19 years working with youth and families. They started their journey and partnership in 2010 working together as investigators at Child Protective Services. Through the years their knowledge and passion has grown and inspired them to do more for youth, families, and our community.
Abundant Life Teaching, Inc has a vision to provide services, education, and resources for youth, family, communities, and community stakeholders. We want the opportunity to integrate faith and practice into the conversations that are much needed in our community in regards to suicide, mental health, life transitions, and decision making. Our organization will offer parenting courses, Life Skills Training, Life Transitions Groups, career coaching, mentoring, anger management, vision board facilitation, depression and anxiety groups, self esteem groups, and social skills training. The organization also provides suicide prevention training, suicide intervention training, leadership presentations, and mental health awareness training for veterans, faith-based organizations, businesses, and community agencies.

Mental Health Awareness Training
One Step at a Time
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with the challenges and stigma associated with mental health. Mental Health Awareness is something that we take very seriously, and our team is working each and every day to make a positive impact. We use the evidenced based curriculum of Mental Health First Aid for Adult and Youth to provide practical strategies to help support helpers of people with mental health issues. Suicide Prevention/Intervention Training
Helping The Community
At Abundant Life Teaching, Inc, we are dedicated to help address awareness concerning suicide and to normalize the conversation. We utilized multiple evidence based intervention and prevention courses including: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training ( A.S.I.S.T. 2 day course), ASK ( 1 hour - 4 hour course), SuicideTALK ( 60min - 90min course) and SafeTALK (4 hour course). Starting the conversation about suicide is not easy, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
Education & Outreach
We see every challenge as an opportunity, and through education and outreach services we want to ensure that youth, adolescents, families, communities, and leaders are better prepared to manage the unique situations they find themselves in. We include programs such as Leadership workshops Life Transition Groups, Career Coaching, and Single Parent Empowerment Groups. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it.
